The downstream Kaituna bait and no-limit row should not be imported back onto Lake Rotoiti, the winter shoreline, or the Ohau Channel.
Main Lake, Winter Shoreline, Or Channel
The main lake row and the winter shoreline row share fly and spin methods, an eight-trout daily bag, and the Rotorua Lakes 350 mm minimum size, but they do not share the same season. The main Rotoiti Lake row is 1 October to 30 June. The defined winter shoreline from Tapuaekura Bay to Hinehopu is all year.
That all-year shoreline wording is still bounded by landmarks and 200 m offshore. Note 5 also says no trout fishing from a boat in designated winter shoreline-fishing areas on Lakes Tarawera, Rotoiti, and Okataina from 1 July until 1 October. A winter shoreline opportunity is therefore not the same as a general winter boat-fishing permission.

Closed Inflows And Boat Notes
Fish & Game's Eastern Note 1 closes all springs, streams, and tributaries flowing into or from Lake Rotoiti, except the Ohau Channel and Kaituna River. That means the lake row should not be read as permission for every inflow, drain, spring, or mouth.
Note 5 adds boat-position details. It includes the unanchored-boat restriction within 200 m of a landmark, the winter-shoreline boat-fishing restriction from 1 July until 1 October, and the notice that boats are not permitted under Bay of Plenty Regional Navigation Safety Bylaws to anchor in the Ohau Channel.
