No result yet

Your checked result will appear here.

Type a named lake, river, or stream to find the most relevant freshwater rules route in the site data. Results are deliberately cautious: they identify the official next check instead of declaring a trip compliant.

Named-water rule layers

Fish & Game regions can have special water rows and current Anglers' Notices. Taupo has a separate DOC notice. Lake Rotoaira has a separate DOC path. The correct result starts with the named water, then the current authority page.

The result does not decide whether a water is open, whether a method is allowed, whether access is permitted, or whether a limit applies. Confirm those details on the official current source.

FAQ

Does this rules checker tell me whether a water is open today?

No. It routes you to the current named-water or authority source. The official notice determines the legal date, method, limit, access, and closure answer.

Why does the named water matter?

A regional licence or district label can still have lake, river, reach, mouth, canal, method, season, access, or biosecurity exceptions.

What happens if a water is not listed?

The tool returns an official fallback path instead of guessing.
